The Texas Science and Natural History Museum at UT Austin is hosting a Dinosaur Day on July 13th.

I am so sorry to have delayed this epic announcement, but the classes voted on new names last week! The children chose:

1. Peaceful Poodle moths (Ms. Gabi, Ms. Merilyn, and Ms. Carime)
2. Helpful Hyraxes (Ms. Yenifer, Ms. Karelie, and Ms. Vanya)
3. Quick Quokkas (Ms. Jerical, Ms. Olivia, and Ms. Brenda)

We will use these names for the next couple of years! The new shirt designs in the fall will feature these animals on the sleeve.

Today’s messy art day activity is our shortest, but the most messy! There may be paint in your child’s hair or on their clothing today.

A luna moth caterpillar also dropped in during playtime. After a little rest and recuperation in the butterfly garden, we placed it back in the pecan tree where it crawled quickly up a branch to eat more leaves.

The children had a wonderful, and active, morning!

We didn’t let last night’s inch of rain slow us down from an active and imaginative morning play time!

We also found a cicada emerging from its exoskeleton in the block square. The children were interested and respectful. They gave the insect space as it finished emerging and watched as its wings unfurled. By the time the children enjoy their popsicles, it should be able to fly away!
