Happy Thanksgiving and Poetry Recital Sign Up

Hello, dear Parents,

Before the holiday, I wanted to send out our Poetry Recital sign up and mention a new event that will occur during and after the recitals: a book swap and bake sale!

I greatly appreciated all of your support supervising your children on the playground and could tell the children had a wonderful time. We’ll repeat the experience with playtime after/before the recital in conjunction with an outdoor bake sale.

The new special event, however, will be the book swap that will take place on the front benches. This break, you can collect books that your children have loved (or, as I still do with my children and families, books I think they should love) but no longer want or need. You can bring them to the school on 12/10, 12/11, and 12/12 and they will be organized by topic and ready to pick up at the recital! More details will be sent in a separate email the first week of December.

A reminder that our Thanksgiving holiday will be from 11/24-11/28.

We are grateful for you all and hope you have an amazing and safe Thanksgiving with your friends and families!

Rachel

Additional Thanksgiving Feast info: lunchboxes and allergies

Hello, dear Parents!

Our Thanksgiving Feast is this Thursday, 11/20, and we are all so excited!

The children will need their water bottles that day, but not their lunchboxes.

The following foods will be included in the feast: turkey lunch meat, aloha rolls, canned corn, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, strawberries, blueberries, and mini carrots.

The exception to bringing a lunch would be children who have allergies. If your child has an allergy or food restriction and cannot eat the feast food, please bring lunch or additional food for your child. If your child can eat most of the food (there are fruit and veggie options!), you can bring substitutes for the meat/potatoes/mac n’ cheese/rolls/corn.

Thank you so much and please let me know if you have any questions at all.

Happy Veteran’s Day!

Thank you to all of our Veterans! We appreciate everything that you do and have done!

You will see some pictures of the older friends learning about shadows. Where does a light source need to be to create a shadow? The older friends have learned what natural vs. artificial light is and what translucent, transparent, and opaque objects are. Tomorrow, they will continue light studies by studying the great natural light source, the sun. They’ll observe how the shadows change and seem to “move” as the earth spins by making a block tower sundial!

Reminders and notes for this week

Hello, dear Parents,

Just a reminder that our Drum Jam session is this Thursday, 11/13, during morning circle. All children can bring in a homemade drum or instrument and show us how it makes noise! We will all make music with our homemade instruments afterwards.

A very important note and instructions about our Thanksgiving Feast will be in your child’s lunchbox tomorrow. The children will choose which food they will bring for our feast on 11/20. More information and reminders will be sent home as the date approaches.

We will also run a safety drill tomorrow before circle called “Mouse in the House.” We are required by regulation to run Lock Down drills, but we make them fun and a game.

Thank you so much and please let me know if you have any questions at all,

Rachel
