Hello, Dear Parents!
On Saturday, October 4th, from 8:30-12:15, we are excited to try a new fundraising event at Marimont with a clothing swap! This is also the morning of our Poetry Recital. You are welcome to visit before or after your child’s recital.
If you have clothing around your house that is in great condition, but just a little too small for your child, or if you feel hesitant to donate those new boots that are the wrong size or the costume they only wore once before they outgrew, collect everything in an HEB bag and bring it to the swap! You can drop off bags of clothing in exchange for tickets on the mornings of Monday, October 1st through Friday, October 3rd.
You’ll receive 10 tickets for every HEB bag you donate. You can also buy additional tickets for a dollar each. Costumes, fancy outfits, and shoes may cost more than one ticket.
Coffee will be available and treats will be for sale. My daughter, Tesla, is an exotic plant collector (hoarder?) and will have a small amount of plants for sale as well.
If you would like to bake treats for the event, help organize the donated clothing, or greet parents on the morning of October 1st-3rd to accept their clothing for tickets, please email Honey Goodenough at honeygoodenough@gmail.com.
We will raise money for our trip to Dinosaur Valley State Park. Children under 12 are free, but I hope to cover the adult entry fees and any other associated field trip fees. I am calling the park today to check on field trip prices, the best time to visit, activities, etc. I see that they have a Star Party on November 15th at 8 pm and we might have a chance to see some fall color on the trees!
During the clothing swap, please arrange for direct supervision of your child out on the playground without the distraction of cellphones or extended parent conversation. I will post our playground rules on the blog and have copies for language enrichment at the event (it’s easy to say ‘Well, sorry, but it’s on this list that Mrs. Rachel gave to me!’), but you can also ask your child, “Is that invited?” They are very responsible!
I am very excited about this event and drinking my third cup of coffee, so if anything is unclear or confusing, please let me know and I’ll send a message to our parent group 🙂
Thank you so much!
