Our Eclipse Song!

Hello, dear Parents!

We are gearing up for our eclipse celebration on April 8th. I know many schools have decided to close or not to let the children see the eclipse, so I will send out a list of our eclipse day protocol, with times, soon.

If you would prefer for your child not to go outside to see the eclipse (I purchased glasses for the entire school!). Please let me know. They can still participate in the activities in the morning.

This week, we will start to learn our eclipse song. You can sing it at home with your child, too! It follows the tune of ‘Waltzing Matilda.’ The words in rounded brackets are meant to be whispered or chanted, but not added to the melody. It’s super simple and easy to memorize!

Solar eclipse, solar eclipse,

On April 8th, we’ll see a solar eclipse.

The moon will move

Between the earth and sun.

On April 8th,

We’ll see a solar eclipse.

When the moon moves

Between the earth and sun

It’s shadow falls on the ground you see. (it’s called an umbra!)

What’s so special about our eclipse?

Austin’s in the path of totality! (And Pflugerville!)

[Repeat chorus]
