It’s raining squirrels!

Hello, dear Parents!

There have been a couple of baby squirrels that have fallen from their nests in the large live oak in the front. They are ok besides puncture wounds and have been taken to the Austin Wildlife Rescue (the squirrel this morning was described as “chubby” by the volunteer and she predicted a full and fast recovery), but are injured from their fall and too scared, too much in shock, or too young to move from where they fall. If the babies are feisty, moving around, or making aggressive noises (that are so ridiculously cute), I can usually place the babies back in the tree for the momma squirrels to retrieve at a later time. Please come find me or call the school if you come across a baby squirrel on the ground and I’ll help it. If your child runs in the grass up front under the live oak, keep an eye out for little squirrels! They camouflage perfectly with the ground.

Happy Monday!

Hello, dear Parents!

Our first Poetry Recital is a little over two weeks away. To help with numbers and parking, I divide each class into two groups. I will send a sign-up genius link to your email (and post it on the blog) for you to sign up for your preferred slot. Please only sign up for one spot, but bring as many people as you like!

Introducing Solids workshop at MMS, Saturday, 9.23

Hello, dear Parents,

Gayle Schwee, a current Marimont parent, is offering a workshop at Marimont for parents and anyone else who has a newborn or is pregnant! Here’s a little more information about her business:

Gayle Schwee (Marimont mom) and Jessica Peterson (previous Montessori mom in South Austin) are occupational therapists and co-founders of Matrescence Occupational Therapy. As a practice, they are working to change the standard of care in perinatal health – and that looks like providing support services in preconception, pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. They are a community-based practice and see moms in their homes to help them with issues related to motherhood including pain, posture, mental health, and child development. They are medically trained and have the specific experience in the hospital setting that really gives us a unique perspective for birth. You can follow them on Instagram @matrescence_OT or check out their website www.momsOT.com.

Please see the attachment for information about how to sign up for the workshop. Non-Marimont parents are also invited to register!
