Happy Monday!

Dear Parents,

Please keep an eye on your email during the winter weather. I will send an email out about 5:00 or 5:30 a.m. if there are any delays or closures. We don’t always follow PfISD or AISD. Stay warm, have fun, and drink lots of hot chocolate 🙂

Thank you, Parents! & Which came first?…

Thank you, dear Parents, for all of your support at the Sea Turtle Rescue Bake Sale. We earned enough money to adopt one sea turtle nest (I think we get to name the babies, from what they coordinator told me) and THREE permanent residents at the rescue! It is amazing!

Speaking of babies, which came first? The chicken or the egg?

At our school, it’s the chicken.

I’m waiting for Settimia and Francesca, our bonded hens, to start sitting (broodiness). They are lovely and unique pair. I have read that it is common for chickens to hurt chicks that they did not hatch themselves. Francesca and Settimia work together as a team to hatch, raise, and protect their chicks. They are also the alpha hens of the coop–so we don’t have to worry about other hens pestering their babies. When they’re broody, I have a collection of eggs to pop right underneath them. Then, the 22 day incubation count down will begin.

A lovely Wednesday morning!

The sky provided quite a show this morning when the clouds rolled in and covered the sun. We talk about the sun giving us light and heat in the celebration of life ceremony, so it was amazing for the children to see how the temperature and visibility can change so quickly when the sun is covered up suddenly!
