The older friends used food and a nonstandard unit of measurement (their teachers’ feet!) to see what the solar system might look like if we shrank it down to Marimont school size. This demonstration is always a class favorite because they are invited to walk through the sheep pasture!

Continue readingDr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration, Parent Night, and Little Chefs!
Hello, dear Parents!
This Thursday, the children will celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life by snacking on some southern food and by reviewing and creating a timeline of his life events (the timeline is for our older friends in afternoon circle). We have enjoyed his biography and are ready to learn more about him!
Considering the current COVID rates, I would like to shift Parent Night to individual meetings–so Parent Conferences! If you would like to schedule a parent conference to talk with your child’s teacher about your child’s progress and their goals this semester, please email us! We will also send home the information that was supposed to be sent out at parent night with each child on Tuesday, 1/18.
Finally, please email me back if you would like to sign your child up for Little Chef’s free trial class on Tuesday, 1/18.

Apricity–what a lovely word! I just learned that it means “the warmth of the sun in winter.”
I’m looking forward to our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration next week. We read his biography this week and will order some of the events of his life on a timeline next Tuesday. On Thursday, we will celebrate him! Please keep an eye out for a homework assignment next Tuesday. The children will be in charge (with your help) of writing their own autobiographies to share with the classmates!

MMS will be closed Monday, January 17th, for the MLK holiday.
We will also have our Winter Parent Nights in January.
The Purple Unicorns/Ms. Jerical’s class will meet on 1/18.
The Awesome Axolotls/Ms. Adriana’s class will meet on 1/19.
The Silly Dandelions/Ms. Gabi’s class will meet on 1/20.
All Parent Nights will run from 5:30-6:00.
