A joyful book exchange!

Thank you so much, Parents, for bringing in all the wonderful books for the exchange–with such lovely wrapping paper. The children had a jubilant time exchanging books, showing gratitude, then unwrapping and reading the new additions to their home libraries!

“Ask for what you need…

…and be prepared to get it!” –Maya Angelou

How many times do you hear someone tell a child to “Use their words”? What if the child is unable to remember what words to use at a certain moment due to extreme emotions like anger or sadness? We can wait until a child is calm, ask questions, and guide with specific language when necessary. Teaching children to ask for what they need is a daily work that requires patience, calmness, and repetition–but it allows the child to build an amazing level of self-awareness and control that is a life-long gift for them–and you!
