Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

I am grateful for our wonderful Parents, amazing children, and splendid group of teachers! I hope you all have a fabulous Thanksgiving.

We will be closed 11/27-11/29. We’ll see everyone back in the merry month of December!

Safe Place Toy Drive: Fill the Tundra!

Dear Parents,

Each year, we have an ambitious toy drive at Marimont to help support the children at Safe Place of Austin. The children at Safe Place left their houses because the situation was not safe for them. They usually leave everything behind–their favorite pets, pillows, toys. With this toy drive, we get to be their Santa Claus!

This is the first year we’ve had to fill a Tundra, but we’ve always packed the Tahoe full of toys in the past! I’ve linked Safe Place’s wish list for more everyday things–we will also accept any of these items. The toys need to be new and unwrapped. They request that all toys are nonviolent.

The deadline for our Toy Drive is Friday, December 13th. I’ll drive down to the warehouse at noon.

Please let me know if you have any questions at all! Thank you so, so much for your help with the Toy Drive! We’re going to fill that Tundra!

Revving up for December!

Like October, December is a month of many gatherings and celebrations! I am typing up a handy dandy list to help organize these events for you all! I’ll send it out through the blog today. I’ll also send a hard copy home next week. I’ll update our small marquee board and chalkboard. As usual, we’ll attach notes to lunch boxes the day before any big event! Whew, we can make it through the holiday season with a minimal amount of hustle-and-bustle 😊

Our Thanksgiving Feast is tomorrow!

I look forward to seeing everyone’s turkey hands and Pilgrim hats at tomorrow’s feast.

We do not have parking for parents. This event is for children and staff for the time being. I will take lots of pictures!

Please bring all food in a disposable container. Thank you so much, Parents!

Picture Day tomorrow; Thanksgiving Feast on Friday!

If it rains tomorrow, we’ll reschedule picture day–but I hope we can make it without rain until at least 11 a.m.!

I’m also looking forward to our Thanksgiving Feast on Friday! The children have almost finished making their turkey hands, Pilgrim hats, and reading their “First Thanksgiving” books in class to prepare for the special lunch!

The Mentos demonstration!

I urge you to replicate this experiment at home with your kiddo! It’s always an afternoon circle favorite. Find the instructions at stevespanglerscience.com/lab/experiments/original-mentos-diet-coke-geyser/
