Our Book Exchange and the Safe Place “Fill Mrs. Rachel’s Tahoe” toy drive

Hello Parents!
Today, you should receive a note about important December dates.
I forgot to add our Book Exchange to that list. It is a school tradition to draw a friend’s name and to bring a special, wrapped book for them before the holiday! At the end of the exchange, we all unwrap our books and share our gratitude with our friends with smiles and hugs! On Tuesday, December 4th, please keep an eye out for a book note in your child’s lunchbox. That note will tell you who your child drew for the exchange. Please ask your child what their friends likes and what kind of book they think that child would like. Please make sure that all books are wrapped, in perfect condition, and do not contain any language or topics that we would not use/address at school (it’s amazing how many children’s books use words and phrases like “shut up” or “stupid”).
Our book exchange will be Friday, December 14th during morning circle.
On another topic, the paper going home today does list a deadline for our Safe Place “Fill up Mrs. Rachel’s Tahoe” toy drive. Every year, we collect new toys to donate to children at Safe Place.  They no longer accept used toys. Each class sets a goal and tries to reach it as a community! Using appropriate terms, we communicate that these children have had to leave their houses because they were no longer safe. They might have left their dog or their cat behind. They would have to leave their pillows, their clothing, and even their favorite toy behind. It is our chance to be like Santa Claus for these children.
Our toy drive officially begins now, so please feel free to bring in toys! The Tahoe is a big space to fill, but we manage to do it every year with help from our parents 🙂 If you would like to donate other items, Safe Place has complied this list.
On Friday, December 14th at noon (same day as the book exchange), I will drive the toys down to the Safe Place warehouse.
Thank you so much, Parents, for your continued help and support!

Are you looking for a great Christmas concert?

Come see the a cappella group, Tinsel, on Sunday, December 2nd at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Pflugerville. The group is comprised of amazing, Grammy-winning singers that perform in a relaxed, family-friendly style. After they sing a small set, the group turns to the audience for requests! There is a suggested donation of $10, which is a pretty good deal to hear this caliber of music!

Thank you, Parents!

My pictures from today refuse to upload, but I wanted to make sure that I thanked you HEARTILY for the success of our bake sale this morning!

We raised $240 and sold out of goodies a little after 8:30 in the morning. That’s amazing! Thank you, Parents, for your support!

Bake sale tomorrow!

Please bring some cash to school tomorrow and help support our kindergarten group with their learning journey! We will have biscuits, corn muffins, zucchini bread, and banana bread.

Bake Sale on Wednesday!

Please come to school on Wednesday ready to buy banana bread, sweet drop biscuits, zucchini bread, and corn muffins! The children are making each item in their classrooms tomorrow with Test Kitchen recipes!

All items are $3 and will help fund the kindergarten learning journey.

Happy early Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for you, Parents, for giving us the gift of teaching and knowing your amazing children. I am thankful for all of our funny students here at school and the truly wonderful teachers who support and instruct them. I am thankful for Mr. James and the beautiful school he maintains!
