“The person who can bring…

…the spirit of laughter into a room is indeed blessed.” –Bennett Cerf

I thought of Thanksgiving next week and of all the rooms packed with the families of our funny students as I read this quote. You have children filled that special spirit of laughter! May your holiday next week be infused with that laughter.

Happy Wednesday!

If your child is a kindergartner and did not receive a Learning Journey packet yesterday, please email me and I will send one home right away! Have a fabulous day!

Flu Prevention

Hello all!

I’ve heard that the flu bug has hit schools around the area. We’re hoping to prevent its spread by serving snack as a group at the start of lesson time, removing our food preparation lessons and increasing sanitation with bleach of certain lessons.

Please let me know if you have any questions at all! Hopefully we can limit the flu cases!

Thanksgiving Feast time!

Dear Parents,

You have probably already received a note about our upcoming Thanksgiving Feast. Here are a few dates for your calendar and a container plea.

Ms. Stefanie and Ms. Jerical’s classes will have their Thanksgiving Feast on Friday, November 17th. Those fabulous teachers will be on vacation the next week.

Ms. Joanna and Ms. TaQueria’s classes will have their feast on Tuesday, November 21st.

Please send all food to school in a disposable container or a container with your name written on it in large letters. We will have quite a few containers floating around and we want to make sure they find their way back home to you.

Watch and learn!

I noticed a common thread through many of today’s pictures: children watching other children work!

This opportunity to learn from observation and discussion is a strength of a large, mixed-age classroom. When an older child works on a more complex lesson, he or she inspires and teaches a younger friend. When a younger student who is normalized talks through their lesson with a friend who is new to the school, they demonstrate kindness and leadership. We all have roles and jobs in our classroom; we can all inspire, support, teach and have fun together!

Winter is coming…

…maybe. It also might be 90 degrees next week.

We’re staying toasty and warm in our classrooms this morning. We played outside until about 7:40, when the wind became very harsh. We hope you are all staying warm and dry as well!

Happy Monday!

This week, your child will come home with a note about our Thanksgiving Feast. The note will include what food your child chose to bring and when to bring the food. Here are just a few things to make the Feast preparation easier:

1. Please send the food to school hot. We can heat the food, but it saves time if the food is not extremely cold.

2. The serving size for each dish may seem small (one square casserole pan for each dish), but the children will have a huge smorgasbord to choose from and cannot eat much more than a spoonful of each food! I think rolls may be the only exception to this rule 😉

3. Please send food in a disposable container that we can throw away or recycle.

Please email me if you have questions about the feast!
