Happy Monday!

If you are in Ms. Jerical or Ms. Joanna’s class (or if your child has a sibling in those classes), we will see you tomorrow for picture day!

The Zoo Man!

The Zoo Man came to visit today! His real name is Michael Hicks and he is the owner and director of the Capital of Texas Zoo. He’s also part of a world-wide effort to save various reptiles (especially snakes) through breeding programs at different zoos. He always ends the show with a snake and advice about what to do if you see one in the wild (don’t touch it!) 😉

The brave snake volunteers: Jeremiah and Elodie

Ms. Jerical helps tell the children what a snake actually feels like–and it’s not slimy, wet or hot!

Sausage the blue-tongue skink visits the school so much he should enroll.

Parker and Jianna help demonstrate how a skink smells.

You can’t see it very well, but all of the following children chose to hold a giant hissing cockroach. They washed their hands afterwards!

Want to hold giant hissing cockroaches from Madagascar? Harper and Antoine say yes!

Quill is a six-month old porcupine and is still getting used to the limelight.

The coatimundi chaos twins!

It really enjoyed my hair!

…must come through liberty.” –Montessori

During tours, some parents ask if the children are invited to do anything they wish during the day. I answer that our day is definitely structured. And, while the children choose their lessons during the work period, the guide and the environment support and direct their learning. So, while the children cannot do everything they wish to do, they are able to operate with freedom in a structured, prepared environment!

Picture Day next week!

Hello Parents!

Ms. Jerical and Ms. Joanna’s classes will take their pictures on Tuesday, September 19th.

Ms. TaQueria and Ms. Stefanie’s classes will take their pictures on Wednesday, September 20th.

Bubbles and Books!

Hello Parents!

I opened up new dates for Bubbles and Books! This activity provides parents with the opportunity to blow bubbles with and read to the wonderful kiddos in Extended Care. The children cherish this time with their parents and volunteers! Please let me know if the link doesn’t work.
